Protest fundraiser for agency that abets Israeli land confiscation

Electronic Intifada : Palestine - 1 hour 42 min ago
Canada's Museum of Civilization is part of Canadians' acknowledgement and atonement for the colonial ethnic cleansing of First Peoples. By providing space for the Jewish National Funds's Negev Dinner, however, the museum is aiding and abetting ethnic cleansing in Palestine and facilitating the celebration of these actions next to the exhibit of aboriginal culture in the Museum's Great Hall. This discredits our nation's understanding of its own egregious colonial past and raises questions about the sincerity of our apologies to aboriginal peoples in Canada.

Motherly Murmurs (Part 3)

Days of an Arabian Life... - 1 hour 55 min ago

*As I am getting ready to leave for work today*

NB: its casual Friday

Mother: I like your top – the colour is nice… it looks good on you

(Its this faded retro-orange shade – the writing on it that says: Hello Sunshine, Hello Mountain Dew – the ‘mountain dew’ part is the actual logo for the drink!)

Daughter: ooohh, thanks mum…

Mother: I’ve never seen you wear it before… where did you get it from?

Daughter: oh, Mr A got it for me a little while ago

Mother: oh… have a good day at work.

I wonder if now she doesn’t like it as much?

Synagogue Update

Lebanese Political Journal - 2 hours 14 min ago
Supposedly, the Lebanese Jewish community has raised funds to restore the synagogue, but the global financial crisis has prevented immediate restoration. See the whole article.

Apologies for not posting the pictures, yet... :(

What am I doing again?

Days of an Arabian Life... - 2 hours 23 min ago

Why does level of forgetfulness increase with age? I think it’s comically unfair – as one gets old there is a need to remember things more… and there are (sadly) more things to remember… and yet our memory becomes worse… I had told my mum since our trip that I had (woefully) gained some kilos and was (desperately) trying to shift (more like eradicate) this weight… the other day as I am getting ready for work wearing this green top mum walks past and says; “hmm – you’re hips have gotten a little wider than normal; have you gained some weight?’

And I was thinking that I had the new found add-ons well hidden!

I’ll just go cry into my coffee now…

la rumeur sur Houari Manar est un ...Canular !

LOL DZ - 4 hours 3 min ago

Electronic Intifada : Palestine - 4 hours 59 min ago
Adalah-NY has learned that the jewelry of Israeli billionaire and settlement-builder Lev Leviev will be on sale at this week's gala opening of the luxury hotel Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai. Despite Leviev's ongoing construction of Israeli settlements and claims by United Arab Emirates officials that Leviev would receive no license to sell his jewelry there, the New York-based human rights coalition Adalah-NY has confirmed that Leviev's jewelry will be on sale at the Atlantis branch of the Levant Jewelry chain on the fabled Palm Jumeirah island.

تساؤلات .. إلى أين تمضون بنا ؟

شبابيك مشرعة - 5 hours 55 min ago

East Wrestling Championship in Kuwait

2:48AM[The B-Sides] - 6 hours 7 min ago
This looks like an interesting yet strange and cheesy B-rated wrestling event. I don’t recognize any of the wrestlers and I doubt many people will but they do seem more entertaining than the pro wrestlers on tv. Here is some info about the event: For the first time ever in Kuwait, wrestlers from different parts [...]

WTF

Above and Beyond - 6 hours 44 min ago
Rap superstar 50 Cent is outraged by fast food company Taco Bell's bid to land him for an advertising campaign, and is threatening legal action. The firm offered to make a $10,000 donation to a charity of 50 Cent's choice if he agreed to change his name for one day.
They stipulated he must stop by one of the chain's restaurants and rap his order at the drive-thru window - using a new moniker: 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent.
But the star is not amused. A rep tells OK! magazine, "This is a sleazy and ill-conceived publicity stunt by Taco Bell's president, Greg Creed, whose disingenuous offer was leaked to the press before it was even presented to 50 Cent's agent yesterday."
And 50 Cent himself warns, "When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: 'We messed with the bull and got the horns!'"

this is true ... i'm not making it up ...
google "50 cent taco bell" and see for yourself ...

Interpal, a British charity providing development and relief for Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, has been served notification from the Islamic Bank of Britain that the charity's account will be closed as of 8 December. Stratfor: Iraq, U.S.: The SOFA and What Could Still Go Wrong

Palestinian Pundit - 7 hours 27 min ago
Stratfor
Via Uruknet.info

"......Besides making a big show of protest in parliament, the al-Sadrites are intentionally trying to delay the SOFA proceedings with the knowledge that many Iraqi parliamentarians will be leaving over the next few days for Saudi Arabia to perform the annual Hajj. If the al-Sadrites can stall deliberations on the agreement, they could deny the pro-SOFA parliamentary bloc a quorum to approve the deal.

Through a message relayed by one of his aides Nov. 20, Iraq’s top Shiite cleric, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, admonished Iraqi Shiite parliamentarians for resorting to such tactics and for leaving for the Hajj early, accusing them of directly defying his orders. Al-Sistani had earlier given his typically ambiguous endorsement of the SOFA and is now feeling pressured to take a harder line against those opposing the pact. Further complicating matters, Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, leader of Iraq’s largest Shiite party, the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), is very close to dying of cancer. ISCI’s support in parliament is critical to the SOFA’s passage, but if al-Hakim dies in the coming days, the mourning period has a good chance of disrupting the vote.....

Meanwhile, the Iranians appear to be playing a complex game. On one hand, Iran’s judiciary chief gave his indirect endorsement of the SOFA after it passed in Iraq’s Cabinet, signaling that Tehran was satisfied with the revised draft of the agreement that included a hardened date for withdrawal. At the same time, Iran’s influential parliamentary speaker, Ali Larijani, has issued statements calling on Iraqi leaders to continue their resistance against the security pact.

In many ways, Iran is operating from a weak position. Though it has strong political connections inside Baghdad, many of Iraq’s Shiite parties, including the ISCI, have maintained a careful balancing act between Washington and Tehran and are acting in their own interests. After spending months lambasting the SOFA and bribing and threatening Iraqi officials, the Iranians cannot let it appear that this deal was imposed on them. At the same time, Iran has been heavily involved in back-channel negotiations to influence the language of the SOFA text to ensure that severe limitations are placed on U.S. forces in Iraq. Whether or not the SOFA passes, Iran needs to create the impression that it is largely calling the shots on the deal so it can set the stage for negotiations with the incoming U.S. President-elect Barack Obama’s administration."

An era with a new credit-less economy

DubLi - 7 hours 27 min ago
Credit crunch economy,

but it may be good for you.

As the saying goes, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”. Source:Joseph P. Kennedy (1888-1969), the father of (U.S.) President John F. Kennedy.
When recessions hit, people begin to rethink their circumstances, get motivated and look for alternative sources of income. New entrepreneurs are born.

Looking back in history, to the great depression in the 1930’s thats the time when new MLM opportunities first began to emerge. The first MLM’s like Wachters began to appear. Then again towards the end of WWII Nutrilife took off, Mary Kay in the ’60’s, Herbalife in the ’80’s. People begin to be creative, to find new ways to make money, to survive.

Today, The security of a paid JOB does not exist any more. That is the reality.

The future is always uncertain.

So what is the alternative?

A change - Change from dependecy to being independent. Taking control - control of your own future. The time has come to invest in yourself in order to improve the life of your family, control your own financial future and control your destiny by taking action. Actions speak louder than words.

Today, we are facing a global recession - now is the best time to start a home based business. Today the internet offers the average, ordinary people countless opportunities to improve their financial situation. More and more people are turning towards working from home, creating a home business, developing another income stream. Starting small, with a small budget, there are endless opportunities. But, the bottom line is - it all starts with you, your drive, ambition and goal. There’s new been a better time to start a home business than now.

If you have the motivation to take control - Opportunity knocks. Take it.
